Sandplay Therapy is a hands-on, kinesthetic, expressive counselling and therapeutic modality that has been used by psycho therapists for over 70 years. Sandply forms a bridge between verbal therapy, and the use of sound, and kinesthetic expressive therapy, combining the elements of each, with reflectiveness in visual form.
Sandplay allows aspects of the psyche to be worked with naturally and safely in these three domains, and reduces the negative effects of emotion, feeling, thought, intention and behaviour. Sandplay therapy has been extensively researched and is a powerful method for working with people.
Sandplay has been used with children, adolescents and adults. It is an easily used relaxing therapy which allows the individual to gently access, their subconscious mind at their own pace and in their own way. Sandplay therapy utilises multiple intelligences with the use of sand and symbals providing a powerful means of overcoming human problems.
Sandplay therapy is useful for those suffering anxiety, depression, trauma reactions, anger problems and issues with self esteem. Sandplay therapy exercises have been found to support insight into a variety of emotional problems assisting the release of emotional stress that can drive emotional and behavioural problems.
