The difference between average people and highly effective people, is that the latter are much better organized, both personally and professionally.

Fortunately, organization is a skill which is learnable.  You can learn to be an extremely well organized, efficient and effective person, producing vastly more in the same period of time than others around you.

A famous psychological law says – before you do anything, you have to do some thing else first – that something else is – getting yourself completely organized.

Resolve today to become well organized – repeat this affirmation, “I am organized and efficient in everything I do!” until it is accepted by your subconscious mind.  You need to be single minded.  Drive for the things on which you have decided.  Everything is hard before it becomes easy.

Consider some of these core functions of good organization.  We can help develop these skills.

  • Plan everything in advance - prepare the night before - action without planning often equals failure.
  • Get a return on your investment by getting outcomes you want from the time and energy you invest.  Get an early start on the day.
  • Neatness and tidiness is a key habit in personal productivity.
  • Time management – schedule your time – gain some tools and techniques – make time productive – do important work during prime time – make travel time productive.
  • Stand back from your desk, office or workstation and ask – “what kind of person works here?.” Do the same for your home or car.  Evaluate – would you trust that person with an important task?
  • Stop using your intelligence against yourself – stop excusing and justifying untidy environments – it is really only self delusion.  Use an organized filing system.
  • End every day with a clean desk – work more efficiently and complete tasks within appropriate time limits.  Assemble what you need, and handle each piece of paper only once.  Use the latest technology to your advantage.
