Virtual Reality Therapy now available at Wattle House

Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) is a new and exciting technique in the developing field of mind-body medicine.
Virtual Reality Therapy is:

VRT is used in conjunction with other therapies, such as counselling, natural medicine and nutrition. It has many clinical applications, including;

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self image
  • Acute and post traumatic stress disorders
  • Pain management
  • Sleep disorders, coping strategies
  • Weight management
  • And for quitting smoking

RVT is undertaken by wearing a head-mounted display unit and headphones, providing you with crystal clear sound and vision, at the same time removes all external stimuli.
The aim of this therapy, like that of hypnosis, meditation and guided imagery, is to allow you focus on the mind’s inner unconscious resources to activate or inhibit psychological or physiological responses.
During a typical VRT session you will be taken on an incredible journey through different environments, which induces states of deep relaxation, focused concentration, which creates a state of altered consciousness that reduces stress and anxiety levels.
After your session you may feel a little drowsy, like waking from a deep sleep. This is normal and should clear in a few moments. Many clients report that following VRT sessions they sleep soundly that night and awaken very refreshed the next day.
Virtual Reality Therapy should not be used on people sensitive to video games or with a history of epileptic seizures.
Your practitioner should discuss your medical history and requirements with you prior to treatment.
